8- Football is probably the best sport in the world; thus, its popularity in USA and Canada makes it run short of votes during the nomination and the pick of the top sports in the world. With the most famous figures incoming from soccer, it is clear that football is the world’s most popular game ever.

Help answer the question about amazing motor sport

Please check my short essay, it's in English, really important!?
Here it is, my questions are at the end but feel free to correct the things I didn't mentioned/asked for too. Especially punctuation.

I had an amazing summer holiday, probably the best one I’ve ever had. To be honest, I enjoyed all of it but my favourite moment was when my father and I went to Belgium to watch Formula 1 live. I’m a big fan of motor sports and I was happy to go there.

We flew to Germany on 26 August. Then we went to our hotel which wasn’t far from the airport. I couldn’t wait for the drivers’ autograph session which was supposed to be on the next day. I was really excited about it. So the day came and after a long waiting, they let us go to the track. I ran fast and took a good place from where I could see everything I wanted. The drivers were out and so was my hero – Kimi Raikkonen. When it was my turn, I handed my flag to him and he signed it. I felt like my heart was going to jump out of my chest. I’ve wanted this for the last 3 years and when it happened, I couldn’t believe he was in front of me and not just on the TV.

When on Sunday he won the race, I realized it wasn’t just a fairytale; it was my dream coming true.

First question is can I use the short for negative verbs…I mean "wasn't" in stead of "was not" in essays?
2nd, is the verb "hand" the best one in that situation?
3rd, I'm using the British English, because my teacher wants me to, is it right to use "realiZed" in stead of "realiSed"? Because I thought realise is not correct at all but now when I think about it maybe it's just more rarely used.
And my last question is Does the last sentence seem fine to you? I mean "it was my dream coming true." Or should it be "it was my dream which came true" or something else?

THANK YOU SO MUCH. I'm really going to appreciate if you check it for me, it's important because my teacher is new and I don't want to give her a bad impression on our second meeting.
